This is a place where we can read, reflect and respond to the traditional scriptures of Lent. Lent is the time where we are made low so that we can appreciate the height of the risen Christ.

One thing that I never really picked up before is the last part of this verse:
Gen 1:14 But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison.
We always hear how God works through difficult circumstances and that suffering has a purpose (obviously, all true), but what's also clear is that Joseph didn't just sit back and just "rejoice in his suffering" (neither does he seem to whine incessantly), but he did take action to attempt to alleviate it.
"Hey buddy, when you get outta here in a few days, see if you can get me out too!"
Of course, the other dude forgot. But it's a good reminder that we not only have an obligation to help those who are suffering at the hands of injustice (like the cup bearer didn't), but that when we are suffering and alone, it seems that asking for help is not a bad idea.
