This is a place where we can read, reflect and respond to the traditional scriptures of Lent. Lent is the time where we are made low so that we can appreciate the height of the risen Christ.

Genesis verses 51,52.
What first struck me about these verses is Joseph's immediate reaction to give them names reflecting God's actions and goodness. In the midst of this affluence and success, after struggle, but also knowing the struggle about to come, Joseph remembers God.
But as I think about it further, I also find it interesting that in his remembering of God in the naming of Manasseh involves forgetting. So he's forgotten what's happened, and his family (which seems a little bitter to me) but remembers that God has caused him to forget. It gets a little confusing and messy for me.
But I still stand by my initial observation of Joseph's response in remembering God's faithfulness and actions.
